Dr. Knapp, clinical psychologist, will be conducting these screenings utilizing the ASQ-SE (Ages and Stages Questionnaire Social and Emotional) as a first level screening tool to identify children who may be at risk for social or emotional difficulties.   The screening consists of a series of 8 questionnaires for age intervals of birth to 6 years.  Referrals to Autism Spectrum Therapies will be made for those who are at risk.  Parents can discuss anger management, biting, fighting, socialization, temperament, etc.

Play Partner: Autism Spectrum Therapies

Grown-up Tip: Expand your child’s emotional vocabulary by regularly providing language asking questions like, “I’m guessing you feel ___ (disappointed, embarrassed, frustrated, etc.) because ______. Is that right?” Providing regular practice in identifying feelings helps advance a child’s self-awareness to help reveal the true causes and resulting emotions.  This will help both of you to deal better with any problem at hand.
