Specifically for: Children of all ages; Grown-ups
Regular developmental screening in the early years makes sure that children are on track, and helps identify areas where additional support may be needed. Today, Pretend City Children’s Museum’s child development initiative Good to Go from Head to Toe will host ASQ Developmental Screenings. These screenings will be facilitated by School Readiness Nurses from Irvine and Laguna Beach Unified School Districts. The screenings will assess your child’s speech, motor, cognitive and social areas utilizing the Ages and Stages Questionnaire. Early diagnosis and treatment of developmental delays can help give a child the best opportunity to reach his/her full potential.
Grown-up Tip: This is the perfect season to play with your child in a peer-like way. Throw on a costume and pretend play with your child. Children learn crucial skills through play with other children, but children also learn a great deal through play with their parents. Children whose parents frequently play with them tend to have more advanced social skills and get along better with peers. Plus, it’s fun!
