Mad Science Goes Green – Mission Nutrition

Time: 10:00-11:00a.m.
Specifically for: Toddlers (2-4 years), Preschoolers (4-5 years), Grown-ups
Did you know that by “going green” you are keeping your body healthy? This class will focus on nutrition and fitness while focusing on healthy eating and lifestyle. You will learn what foods are good for you as you build a nutritional pie chart using life-sized food replica. Most which can come from your very own garden. Don’t forget to take home a Mad Science Step-O-Meter, a real pedometer!
* This class will be the only weekday offering for the new class sessions. Mad Science classes will be held the first Saturday of the month at 10:00a.m. Each class will cater to a different age range. Please check in continuously for registration.

Grown-up Tip: Introducing your child to new healthy foods coupled with positive reinforcements builds a strong foundation for healthy eating habits. During your next grocery visit, let your child pick out the vegetables on your shopping list. Your child will feel that they are part of the process in bring home healthy choices.

Pocket Full of Feelings

Class Series: Fridays, March 16 & 23 (series; must attend all classes)
Time: 3:00-4:30p.m.
Specifically for: Preschoolers (4-6 years), Kindergarteners (5-6 years), Grown-ups
“Feelings are real and something we feel. What matters the most is the way we deal”™
A child’s behavior, and misbehavior, is an expression of how they feel, so let’s help them learn how to express their feelings in a positive way. In this parent-child interactive class, learn how to:
• Teach your child about communicating what they feel
• Identify behaviors
• Connect behaviors to feelings
• Model appropriate and fun ways for your child to DEAL with their feelings
• Address your child’s behavior in order to change misbehavior to best behavior
Leave this class series understanding what feeling your child is communicating to you when they misbehave and how you can support them to communicate more effectively. Don’t forget to wear clothing with pockets!
Play Partner: Dr. Ann Corwin, The Parenting Doctor and Karin Lombardo, MA – creators and mothers.
Grown-up Tip: Place a mirror in front of your child and have them make a happy, sad and silly face. Offer your 4 and 5 year old a piece of paper and have them draw the face they see in the mirror. This activity will help your child convey their emotions.

Baby Steps through Pretend City!

Time: 2:00-3:30p.m.
Specifically for: Infant (0-16 months), Grown-ups. For the comfort of our infant guests, no older siblings please.
Pretend City was designed with your infant in mind but with so many excited, older children playing in the museum, it may be hard for your little one to get around. Take advantage of this exclusive, infant only workshop by engaging in age-appropriate facilitated activities which will teach you about your baby’s developmental milestones. Don’t forget to pick up a free Ages & Stages Questionnaire!* to ensure your little one is developing on track! They’re FREE, fast and easy!
* Available for Orange County residents only
Grown-up Tip: Read your child a book and point to the pictures as you read. At 12 months, they may pat at, or point to pictures that catch their attention. This activity strengthens your baby’s understanding and use of language. By imitating and playing with you, your baby is learning communication and social skills.
