When I sort objects found on the beach, my brain is able to make learning connections to:
– notice details, likeness, differences and to form categories; essential reading and math skills
– use concepts of shape, size, color, location and design; relevant to reading
– develop and evaluate assumptions and predictions based on data (Problem solving)
– understand patterns and how they are related (Organizational Skills)
– develop and evaluate events using inferences and predictions based on data (Logical reasoning)

When I experience sand play, my brain and body make learning connections to:
– exercise imagination and creativity
– appreciate the concepts of size, shape, volume; empty and full
– practice solving problems
– Appreciate the concepts and differentiate between warm, cool, wet damp, dry, heavy, and light
– create personal patterns and symbols
– observe changes and test cause and effect principles; science skill

When I string seashells, my body and brain make learning connections to:
– develop and strengthen hand-eye coordination
– practice making choices based on color, shape, texture and size
– use number concepts such as more, less, longer, and shorter
– practice creating and reproducing patterns
– experience a sense of pride in accomplishment
– practice sequencing

When I play with sand toys and pretend sea creatures, my brain makes learning connections to:
– use the concepts of shape, size, length and location; essential to reading and math
